| The Romsey Area includes the historic town of Romsey through
which the River Test flows on its way to the sea at Southampton Waters.
Surrounding Romsey are the pretty villages of Awbridge, Braishfield and
Ampfield. To the West of Romsey is Sherfield English, which is situated on
the Hampshire /Wiltshire Border. Wellow is also included in the area. West
Wellow is the newer part of Wellow with the A36 running through it. East Wellow is the predominantly
older part and is home to a 13th Century Church where Florence Nightingale was buried close to
her home at Embley Park, which is now an independent school. North Baddesley
and Rownhams are situated South East of Romsey and combine old and new with
much building work happening after the Second World War. The Romsey Area is
full of variety, old and new, natural and manmade and provides lots of
interest and opportunity. |
