GENERAL INFORMATION

Autism Alert Cards

The aim of the Alert Card is to support people with Austic Spectrum Disorder should they find themselves in any type of contact with the Police.

Hampshire Autistic Society, in partnership with Hampshire Police, will launch the Alert Card Project on 7th October 2008.  The card should be carried at all times and shown to an Officer in the case of an incident or situation. The Police would be able to support the person in an appropriate manner and contact a named person listed on the back of the card to assist with supporting the person during their time in Police care.

Information will be on the Hampshire Autistic Society website leading up to the launch date so keep an eye out for more information on www.has.org.uk

If you require further information on the Alert Card, or any other information, please contact the Outreach Department on 023 8063 3951

Good news from the Early Education and Childcare Unit……

From 1 April 2006, all three and four year olds can have more free, part-time nursery education. The entitlement to sessions of  2˝ hours per session for up to five sessions per week stays the same. But the number of weeks increases from 33 to 38 – the equivalent of schools. Some pre-schools and private nursery schools will need a little time to make the adjustment if they can – but they will make it clear to parents who use them. Any unused weeks though cannot be made up elsewhere.

The dates when three year olds children become eligible stays the same -  so that is 1 September , 1 January and 1 April after their birthday.

Any questions – just call the Early Education and Childcare Unit helpline on 01962 813887.
