GENERAL INFORMATION

Autism Alert Cards

The aim of the Alert Card is to support people with Austic Spectrum Disorder should they find themselves in any type of contact with the Police.

Hampshire Autistic Society, in partnership with Hampshire Police, will launch the Alert Card Project on 7th October 2008.  The card should be carried at all times and shown to an Officer in the case of an incident or situation. The Police would be able to support the person in an appropriate manner and contact a named person listed on the back of the card to assist with supporting the person during their time in Police care.

Information will be on the Hampshire Autistic Society website leading up to the launch date so keep an eye out for more information on www.has.org.uk

If you require further information on the Alert Card, or any other information, please contact the Outreach Department on 023 8063 3951

 Flu Immunisation

 FLU IMMUNISATION

Influenza (Flu) is a highly infectious illness, which spreads very rapidly by coughs and sneezes from people who are already carrying the virus. Flu symptoms hit you suddenly and severely and usually include fever, chills, headaches and aching muscles, often with a cough and sore throat at the same time.

Anyone can get Flu, but it can be more serious for people aged 65 years or over and people of any age (including children over 6 months of age) with a serious medical condition. A repeat flu jab is required EVERY year.

CARERS:  If you’re the carer of an elderly or disabled person make sure they have a flu jab. You should also get the jab yourself if their welfare is at risk if you fall ill. Ask your GP for advice.

Value and Viability of Parent & Toddler Groups

Why do parents/carers attend Parent & Toddler groups – what do they think are the benefits to them and their children?

Are they satisfied with what they find?

What are the rewards and challenges experiences by those running the groups?

What are demands for and provision of activities during the holidays?

HCFF sought answers to these and other questions by consulting with attending parents/carers and organisers of groups across Hampshire during October to December 2005.
