BEAUMONT COMMUNITY PRE-SCHOOL AND CHILDCARE GROUPS

There are vacancies at all of the following:

Breakfast & After School Clubs – open from 8.00pm.  Children are delivered to West End Infants and Beaumont Juniors by walking bus.  Breakfast is available.  All children collected from these schools can stay until 6.00pm with a hot snack available.

CLOTHING EXCHANGE AT THE BASE, ALDERSHOT

The Clothing Exchange is situated at The North Town Base in North Lane, Aldershot and is open every Thursday between 10.00am and 1.00pm.  It is run by local residents and is an ideal opportunity to exchange any unwanted clothes, toys and books for items that have been donated by other people.  A credit system applies, so anyone who swaps less than they have donated in any one week can carry their credits forward to a later date.  Anybody that does not have anything to exchange can buy up to 5 items for 50p each.  Refreshments are available at each session.  For further details telephone 01252 314437.

COVE CHILD CONTACT CENTRE

A new child contact centre has been opened and will operate on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month between 2 and 4pm. The centre will enable the non-custodial parent in a broken   marriage to spend some quality time with their child / children whilst the custodial parent has a couple of hours respite.

Options Aftercare provides open access support and advice for adult residents of the Hants DAAT area who have left or are nearing the end of treatment for substance misuse where drugs have been the main difficulty.

HARVEST TRUST HOLIDAYS FOR CHILDREN 2006

Harvest Trust is a charity which provide FREE seaside holidays, based at their holiday centre in West Wales for groups of 12 disadvantaged children aged between 8 and 11 years.  The week long holidays take place between April and September and are organised in partnership with schools, community groups and childcare organisations.  The Trust specialises in simple “no pressure” holidays which particularly benefit withdrawn children with low self esteem who need space and encouragement to build self confidence.  Harvest Trust provides all accommodation, transport and admissions free of charge.  Your organisation need only buy food and provide 3 adult workers to accompany the children.  Application forms are available from www.harvesttrust.com or telephone 01559 371190.

HOMESTART

Based in Mayfield Community Centre, Totland Close, Home-Start is a voluntary organisation in which volunteers offer friendship and support to parents with young children who may be feeling overwhelmed or exhausted by the stresses of everyday life.  The service is available to any parent in North East Hampshire with at least 1 child under 5 years.  Volunteers visit families in their own homes on a regular basis for as long as it is needed.  The support offered can vary from friendship to a listening ear to practical help with the shopping or occasionally taking the children out.  Any family can refer themselves for help by telephoning 01252 545416 or by emailing homestart@nehants.fslife.co.uk

 

LASER-RUN

THE LEN TYLER MUSIC SCHOOL

The Len Tyler Music School provides structured music classes for young children (from birth to about 8 years) on a weekly basis. Child centred-lessons are based on the work of Kodaly (also Dalcroze and Orff).  These music lessons will provide an ideal grounding for any child whether intending to learn a musical instrument or just to gain an understanding and love of music.  All children learn to read fundamental rhythmic music with understanding before attending school (year R in the state system).

Nepalese and Albanian classes.

TClasses are now running on Saturday mornings to enable the teaching of Nepalese and Albanian. The Nepalese class is held in Farnborough and the Albanian class in Aldershot. These classes are to enable children from these countries to retain their native language and also to enable others to learn these languages.

Noah Afro Music

Noah Afro Music consists of Music, Stories and Dance Workshops from Africa aimed at Key Stage 1 and 2 and Nursery age children.  The Group travels to Schools and Nurseries taking with them a variety of drums and many other exotic instruments.  The Music and Dance Workshops consist of hands-on music making, songs, dance and games and the Story Workshops each having a theme ranging from “Caring for the Environment” to “Anti-Bullying” and “Giants” with music, sound effects and role play included in each one.  A workshop lasts for a minimum of 45 minutes (shorter for Nurseries) and aids the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding.  For details telephone 01202 250272 / 07866 208940 or email a.noah-messomo@mcmail.com.

Parent Action Group for Special Play (P.A.G)

P.A.G for Special Play are a Community Action Group who are registered with Rushmoor Voluntary Services.  As an independent Group they are able to apply for funding that has been set up specifically to serve local communities.  Their aim is to use the funding to enable the Special Needs and Siblings Summer Scheme to continue running.  They also want to develop opportunities, including play provision for children with disabilities over the age of 12.

The new Park Early Years Centre, situated within the grounds of Park Primary School, Gloucester Road, Aldershot is now open.  The Centre aims to provide support and learning opportunities for local families as well as affordable, high quality day care provision.  The Centre incorporates a Neighbourhood Nursery for children aged 3 months to 5 years and offers full day care for 51 weeks of the year.  It, also, offers sessional care during term time.  The Centre runs a Play Scheme during the school holidays.  The following groups are also available to parents / carers:

PLAY FLOORBALL @ FARNBOROUGH

The Preschool Learning Alliance (In conjunction with the Adult Community Learning Fund)

SAFER RUSHMOOR

Street Dance Classes

TEEN FIT JUNIOR GYM SESSIONS – Farnborough Leisure Centre

These sessions are aimed at children aged 13-16 years.  They can use the gym under supervision from a Fitness Instructor from 8.00am – 8.00pm Saturdays & Sundays and from 1.00pm – 4.00pm in School Holidays.  Guidance will be given on using the treadmills, bikes, steppers and cross-trainers.  The sessions aim to introduce fitness, awareness and enjoyment of a healthy lifestyle.  For further details on the facilities available telephone 01252 370411

 

TELEPHONE INTERPRETATION SERVICE

Residents and visitors who have trouble understanding English can access Rushmoor services and facilities through this service.  By using Language Line the Council staff can communicate with people in almost 100 languages via a telephone link to a bank of interpreters.  The service is available to anyone enquiring by phone or in person at the Offices.  Council forms, leaflets and other documents can, also, be translated.  For details contact Martin McCarthy on 01252 398880.

 

THE LITTLE BEARS MOTHER & TODDLER GROUP

 

This friendly new group held at the Evangelical Hall, Lower Farnham Road, has been set up for parents / carers and their children up to the age of 3 years.  The group meet every Wednesday between 9.15am and 11.45am.  The cost is £1.50 per session.  Telephone Noella on 07979 478650 / 01252 699030 for further details.

 

 VICTIM SUPPORT

is the independent national charity which helps people cope with crime. Trained volunteers based in local branches contact people after a crime to offer free, confidential support and information.

WAVELL-CODY COMMUNITY CAMPUS

Situated on the Wavell School site in Lynchford Road, the Centre is open to the community 7 days a week.  There is a 4 court indoor sports hall, a floodlit 8 court netball centre, grass pitches and rooms to hire of all sizes.  There is also a fitness centre.  In addition Adult Education Courses are on offer.  Telephone 01252 317603 for details.
